Future Research

Our survey in the Kibyratis is possible by a generous permission issued annually since 1995 by the General Directorate of Monuments and in Ankara and through financial support of the Gerda Henkel Foundation in Düsseldorf since 2008. In 2013 only a short campaign in the field will take place to check and complete our results from 2008 to 2012. In winter 2013/2014 we will work on the publication of this phase of our research. In 2014 we are planning a re-start of our survey with several new questions concerning the Roman Imperial and Late Antique periods in particular.

From 4th to 6th October 2012 an international symposion about the Kibyratis and its neighbours was held at Vienna (Theatersaal der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften). This congress brought together not only all of the scholars working in this part of Asia Minor but was also the starting point for a research-network of all running field projects. An overview of the symposium can be obtained by a short report written on H-Soz-u-Kult by student members of the Kibyratis-Project, in particular Kathrin Gschwendtner, Katharina-Luise Link and Isabelle Zimmermann.
